Our Approach

Whole-Body Physical Therapy in St. Augustine, Florida

You have no idea what you did, but your hip fires up every time you try to do Warrior I pose in yoga. It's been that way for months, and it seems like it's getting worse.

Or maybe you do know exactly what you did: that high-school football knee injury that never fully went away. When chronic pain keeps you from doing the things that make you who you are, it's confusing, frustrating and scary. You just want to know what's wrong and how to fix it. Whole-body physical therapy gives you those answers.

Whole-Body Physical Therapy

What Is Whole-Body Physical Therapy?

Everything in our body is connected. What happens in your foot affects what happens in your back, and vice versa. So doesn't it make sense to look at the whole body to figure out where your pain is coming from?

Sometimes knee pain comes from the feet. Sometimes shoulder pain comes from the back.

By looking at the whole body, not just where it hurts, we are able to find things that most other physical therapy clinics miss. That often makes the difference between a program that works and one that doesn't.

The Renew Approach.

01

Full-Body Examination, Starting With Your Feet

This lets us find and correct the real cause of your pain.

02

Treating the Whole Body

If you only treat the part that hurts, eventually all the things that are wrong with the rest of the body will make the problem come back. By fixing all the problems, we create lasting results.

03

Communication and Accountability

We put our app on your phone so we are always just a tap away. Videos ensure you always know how to do your exercises, and weekly check-ins keep you accountable so you can be confident you'll hit your goals.

04

A Lifelong Habit of Strength Training

This lets you maintain your gains and continue to build a body that is strong and durable so you can get back to doing what you love.

Movement Assessment: Starting at Your Feet

Your Feet Tell a Story About How Your Whole Body Moves.

We've all spent our lives with our feet crammed inside shoes. Most people walk around with an inch and a half of foam between their feet and the ground. We can't feel anything.

At Renew, we start with teaching you how to feel your feet again. If you don't know what it feels like to tighten your butt muscles, it's very hard to strengthen your glutes. The same thing goes for feet. Once you know what your foot muscles feel like, then you can get them strong.

Feet are made of bones, muscles and joints, just like the rest of your body. Instead of propping them up with equipment that only lets them get weaker, we should be strengthening them and training them to work with the rest of the body. Strong feet mean better balance, more comfortable hikes, and getting up in the morning without having to limp for those first few steps.

It's the idea behind our Whole-Body Movement Assessment and the reason so many of our patients with plantar fasciitis, knee pain and back pain start feeling better from the ground up.

One-on-One Physical Therapy

We Respect Your Time.

Time is your most valuable resource. Once it's gone, you can never get it back. The real problem with traditional physical therapy is that it wastes so much of your time.

You go to the clinic multiple days a week just to do the same exercises over and over. Most of the time you're not even with your physical therapist, but doing exercises off in the corner by yourself.

Renew turns this on its head. Every minute that you're in the clinic, you're with your Doctor of Physical Therapy, going over progress, learning new exercises, or planning for the future. There is no down time.

This means that you only have to see us once every few weeks. It's perfect for busy professionals, and for building a habit of exercising at home instead of depending on the clinic for motivation. With Renew there's never a wasted second.

Strength Training Physical Therapy

Stopping the Pain Is Just the First Step.

Does the program stop when the pain stops? No. We quickly move you into strength training. This helps you build a body that is strong and durable so you can climb, do yoga, run, and enjoy being active with the people you care about.

When you load the groceries or put your boat on the trailer, you aren't isolating muscles. Everything has to work together. That's why our medically supervised strength training trains your whole body, not one muscle at a time.

And if something does happen and you get hurt, your program doesn't get derailed, because you're working with a Doctor of Physical Therapy who understands injuries.
